  ADOPTED

Harley has been in foster care for many months now and is doing a wonderful job improving on his socialization skills with his foster family. When we are in bed he is confident enough now to come to foster Mom and Dad to be pet and he loves to snuggle close to our legs while we sleep. Although he still scurries away when he knows he is going to be picked up, I feel he loves to human contact, but is very afraid he is going to be hurt again.

Harley is a very quiet boy and the only time he barks is when he knows he is ready to be fed. Harley will never be a “normal” dog, but with a forever family who understands and loves him for who he is, he will give you years of joy.

Harley received surgery for his broken jaw and it has completely healed and he is doing wonderful. Now all this boy needs is a family he can call his very own.

Harley is a 5 lb, 9 year old, male, who is a
longhaired Chihuahua. He was recently released
from a puppy mill and is still a scared little boy.
He is UTD on all vaccinations, has been neutered,
dewormed, and is tested HW negative. He does
not have any teeth, due to poor nutrition during
his life in the mill.

Harley is suffering with a fractured jaw and a
hole in his gum where a canine was removed. He
will be undergoing surgery to repair his mouth
before he is adopted out to his forever home.

Harley will need a quiet home, preferably one
with experience dealing with mill dogs.

Harley being held after his jaw surgery

For the
first few days Harley was in my home, he would
potty when I approached him to pick him up.
Harley is very scared and it will take him a while
to trust and learn that human touch can feel good.
A home with at least another dog is a must. Harley
came into rescue with his long time friend, Norma
Jean, and whenever she is out of his sight, he
screams and cries until she is near him again. It
would great if someone could adopt these two
together.

Harley is being fostered in the Louisville
Kentucky area.
