Crouton's Story
Yorkie tiny male, 6-8 yrs old (guessing)  Name is "Harrison" , he
is crate trained and just a little shy but coming along well. He would do
well with another small companion dog or to be spoiled rotten as an only dog child.

Hello my name is Crouton.

I have a story and I’m ready to tell it.

I’m a very tiny Yorkshire Terrier at only 3lbs. and 2oz’s.  My mom and dad think I’m between 7 to 8 years old.  I don’t have many teeth left, because they either rotted out or had to be pulled.  I have a really bad back leg.  I walk on it from my knee down.  It caused from living in a wire cage all my life.  I flew on a big airplane to get to my forever home in Georgia.  (The special day was 9/25/99) That was the first time I had ever been on a plane and boy was I scared. There was a lady there to pick me up, and she cried when she got me in her Jeep.  I guess she was happy to see me.  I sure hope so.  She is a really good mom.

The only thing she keeps doing is bathing me. Ugh!! Every week she does this.  I don’t think I ever had a bath at the puppymill. Oh I forgot, when it rained I got wet and cold.  That must have been a bath.  My mom puts me in warm water, and then tries to blow-dry me.  I have real thin hair, so it does not take her a long time.  I try and bite mom when she is bathing me.  I tell myself (every week) don’t bite mom today, but it just never works.  I don’t want to hurt her, and I know she is trying to help me.  She sings little baby songs to me all the time.  I have such a nice home now.  I’m always warm and I can run and run.  I just pull up my bad leg and take off.  When I first came here my feet hurt from walking so much.

My dad called me Crouton (My Little Walker Man) I finally stopped walking all the time.  I sleep a lot and eat a whole bunch.  My mom keeps food and water in the living room and on the back of her bed.  That bed is a neat place. It moves a lot, but it sure is warm.  My mom bought some stairs for me and Bacon Bit (my brother the Yorkie) to get up on her bed with.  I will never forget the first day she saw me on the stairs.  She was so excited and cried at the same time.  I don’t know why she was so happy.  Bacon Bit shows me how everything works around here while she is at work. I had been doing the stairs for a week before she saw me.  (Silly mom)  I sleep in the bed with mom at night, but not to close.

Bacon Bit sleeps right on top of mom.  I like the soft bed and the heat.  I won’t let mom hold me like she does Bacon Bit.  I’m so scared of people.  All I ever knew in my life were mean people. Once in awhile I walk up close to mom and dad, but just for a second.  I hear them said, (we don’t care if he never lets us hold him, he is happy) Boy they right.  There are these other animals that live here also. (Cats) They are OK, they let me sleep with them on the bed and they keep me warm.  I love the sunshine. Mom always opens the blinds before she goes to work.  I know she does this because she has seen me trying to get a sun tan.  I was thinking a lot today about this nice home I have. So I decided to write story for the Puppymill Rescue web page.   Another thought just came to mind, maybe I should try and love my mom and dad and not be scared of them.  Oh that’s silly, I know they know I love them.  They can see it in my eyes, but just in case (here it goes) Crouton kisses to my forever mom and dad.  I love you,  Crouton Hawkins
