NELSON

Nelsons story hit the local newspaper click here to see it.
My name is Nelson, or as my daddy calls me, Nelson O' Rielly!
Sometimes
he even calls me Mr. O'Reilly.
Nelson is the name Auntie Gail gave me when
she helped to save my life. You see I came from a
puppymill. Because of my handicap I would have been killed if not
rescued and brought to Auntie Gail. I stayed with her till my trip to NY
was
arranged. There were a lot of nice people who helped me to get to NY.
Starting with
Auntie Elaine, who first talked with my new mommy on the phone, to Auntie
Jean
who sent Mommy the adoption papers. Then there was a whole group of
people that
helped even more when they all got together for the long trip out east.
Would
you believe six of us traveled together? First Auntie Gail had a friend in
St. Louis that kept us over night. Then Pat came from Peoria, Illinois and
drove us
to Terre Haute Indiana. She had picked up her baby and went out of her way
to drive us to Beth. From there Beth (who sang to us all the way
back to
Columbus, and very nicely I must add )Picked
us up and drove to Columbus where my wonderful daddy picked us up.
Tessa, and I came to NY and Virgil went to Pennsylvania. It was a long
trip but
worth every minute of it because it brought me to this family that I love
so much
already. When I got here I found out I had a human brother and a furry
sister...she hates me but everyone else thinks I am wonderful. I will win
her over one of these days...Mommy tells me when I quit trying to jump all
over her that maybe
she will play with me but I have that puppy playfulness in me and just
can't help it! She is a big, grown up , Three year old and can't
be bothered by a
little squirt like me. I even have a grandma and she likes to have
us come
over to visit with her. Boy, are her arms ever nice to lay in.
The night I moved in I cried all night...so did Virgil.....he stayed
there too the first night and we were both scared. The second and third
night I
cried too because they thought I was going to sleep in the kitchen while
they all
slept in bedrooms...On the fourth night home my daddy put one of his
shirts in
my bed and put my bed in their room and I slept like a baby all night.
Ever
since then I feel like a real part of the family. Someday, when I do all
my
business outside like my sister, maybe I can sleep on the bed like she
does. I am
already learning very quickly how to do this. We have a fenced in yard and
I can
go out run around, play and then do my business. My mommy takes pictures
of me all the time. She thinks I am BEAUTIFUL!
Here are some of her favorites...I know I am a little big for a Yorkie and
my
hair is not as soft as my sister's, my ears are bigger and don't stand up
as well
and I have a longer body and a bad leg, but you'd think I was a show dog
the way
this family treats me. Especially when I cover their faces with Yorkie
kisses
and lay on my back for tummy rubs. They take me everywhere to meet all
sorts of
people...I even went to school with my mommy and visited all her friends
and students. I was quite the celebrity. AND...speaking of celebrities,
my picture is going to be in our local paper as they came and took
pictures of me and my family for the newspaper...I can't wait to see
them. I guess I won't pee on that paper! These people teach me
things
and they feed me like a king (I love liverwurst
treats) have tons of toys to play with and a back yard to run in....They
even call me PRINCE Nelson sometimes......What more can a little guy like
me
ask for?
Let me tell you.........
There's no place like HOME!

One pic is of me and my daddy watching TV Saturday afternoon
nap with my daddy and my sister (who lays as far away from me as she
can)
