Rocky Rio is home. |
Hi, my name's Rocky Rio. I lived in a
puppy mill for almost 10 years. I
was used as a stud dog and lived in a cage with several other dogs under
terrible conditions. I never had any toys and did not know what love even
was.
Close to my 10th birthday I was rescued from the puppy mill. I was still
kind of a sad little dog though as you can see by my "before" picture.

The
very first time I met my forever mommy I was soooo afraid I shock in her
arms. During the drive home mommy talked to me a lot, she could tell I was
pretty anxious and didn't know what was going on or what to expect. I
finally settled into my very own brand new bed that mommy had brought
along for the long drive home. Mommy laid her hand on me and this gave me
comfort and she kept her hand there all the way too.
After I got home I met my two Papillion brothers Scruffy and Pappy. They
liked me and I liked them right away. We've become extremely close since.
Both of my brothers are kind of protective of me and watch out for me too.
they have taught me many things.
>
When I first came here I was not house broke yet and I liked to mark
things. Mommy made me wear a belly band till I started going outside the
other boys. I learnt really fast because I didn't like wearing that belly
band! And because mommy says I'm a VERY smart little boy! I quit marking
after being here for just a few days. Sometimes now I'm tempted to mark if
mommy sits something new down on the floor -- I will go over and check it
out then look at mommy to see if she's looking (cause if she wasn't well
then maybe I could you know, mark it) but mommy sees me and says "don't
even think about it Rocky Rio" since the thing I want more in life is to
please my mommy I don't mark even though it sometimes crosses my mind.
>
I've really come along ways since I've been here. For the first month
every time I went outside with my brothers to potty I was afraid to come
back in the house, I would just lay down in the yard and mommy would come
out and carry me into the house. But now I come in just like my brothers
do and just like I've been doing it all my life.
>
I have lots of trouble walking too good -- mommy says some puppy dogs that
come out of mills can't walk at all--but you ought to see me run. I love
my huge backyard and I love to run. At least once a day me and Pappy run
and run together. I just love that. I bark at anyone I see too because I'm
so confident now I protect my territory. Mommy says it's because I walked
on chicken wire all those years that I limp lots when I walk now and
sometimes my legs ache.
>
Every night I sleep in bed with Scruffy, Pappy, and Mommy. One of my
favorite times is when we all first wake up in the morning because mommy
talks to us before we even get up and gives us lots of hugs and kisses. I
>sure like all the hugs and kisses I get now.
>
One night shortly after I came home during the night mommy rolled over and
layed her hand on me and it scared me really bad. I thought I was back in
the puppy mill until I realized where I was. That doesn't happen anymore.
I know where I am now and where I will always be. I used to be a sad
>little boy but never will be again.
>
Now I know I am loved!!!! I know my mommy loves me!!! I know Scruffy and
Pappy love me!!! Grandma and Grandpa love me!!!! I have all kinds of aunts
>and uncles who love me too!!! And several cousins who love me too!!!
>
I just want to say thank you to puppy mill rescue for giving me not only a
forever home but all this love that I now feel and will always feel
because I will always have it!!!! Thank You PMRescue!!!
Love, Rocky Rio
