Trixie has a story to tell! on national TV!

TRIXIE the star of the show.....she and Maxwell represent all the thousands upon thousands of dogs living and dying as breeders in this Nations Puppy mills.

Upon discovering the captive lives of "puppy mill" dogs Jean Jones founded

Puppymill Rescue Inc.

With the help of volunteers, Puppymill Rescue restores the health

and freedom to dogs that have been kept in small cages and forced to constantly reproduce.

My name is Trixie. I was born July of 2000 but my life did not start until 3 years later.

You see, I was held in a cage for the first 3 years of my life. Just sitting there, day after day waiting for someone to care about me. Sometimes they did not give me or the other doggies next to me food or water. When it got really cold we just sat there shaking but no body would come to make us warm. Then, I had puppies and they took my babies away and I don’t know what happened to them. My puppies still wanted me, their mommy, but there was nothing I could do. I just cried!!!

One day, in April of 2003 some of us were taken to this really big place and some strange people kept looking at us. I was very confused and scared. I am not sure I understand how it happened but some REALLY NICE people took me with them and they cleaned me up really good. They gave me a haircut and I smelled really good for the first time in my life. Wow! All of the sudden I could see. These people that took me gave me lots of food and water and they let me run around. They even told me that finally I could start to live. Hmm! I wondered what they meant.

First I went to two different places and these two nice ladies took very good care of me and they started reassuring me that I was free. Karen and Doris (the two nice ladies) gave me and the other doggies lots of kisses and good treats too. I actually learned how to walk out in the grass and I even learned how to play. They also had lots of nice soft beds. I know this is what they meant by living. Then, I was told I was going to my forever home.

I did not know what that meant either, but I was placed in this small bag and I even got to go on an airplane. Can you believe that? I wish all my friends at the puppy mill could go with me too and see this. The very next day I got to meet my brother Toby and Mommy and Daddy.

They kept petting me and holding me.

My new family looked really happy to see me. It did not take me very long to like my new Mommy. Only, I did not like it when she left for work and that made her very sad.

Soon I understood that if I looked out the window I could see her leave and come back later. Yes!!! She comes back every time. Now I do not get upset anymore because I know Daddy and Toby are home with me and Mommy will come back to play with me later.

In my new home I get to go outside in the grass and I just love to sunbathe. I get to run around the whole house wherever I want. Toby and I sleep with Mommy and Daddy. I even go in the sofa where my brother Toby is not allowed so I can look out the window. Mommy and Daddy see me but they both pretend they don’t. I get lots of food and treats then I lick Toby’s plate. Mommy said I have to get less because my tummy is getting too fat. I play every day with my brother Toby. He really likes me. I have lots of toys and beds here that everyone kept giving me along the way for when I came to my home. My family had bought me some too and I just LOVE to play.

Boy!!! I was really missing out being in that horrible cage where my feet hurt. I hope the NICE PEOPLE can take more of my friends out soon. I would like for them to see what living in a forever home is. Thanks to all the people from PuppymillRescue (the NICE PEOPLE) for saving me from a life of suffering.

I love all of you for giving me freedom and letting me start my life. XOXOX, Trixie.

The first time I saw Trixie on the PuppymillRescue web site she was in a cage.

Her hair was covering her face and I doubt that she could see. Her little face in front of the door just as if she was waiting for someone to help her out. Our heart melted over that poor little girl. We filled out an application and anxiously waited for a reply. I was amazed how organized they were and how many volunteers it took to make the adoptions possible. The application, the vet reference, the phone interview and then the home visit. We were nervous and being the private people we are, not easy for us. However, we felt good that they were so thorough because that meant they really cared about the doggies. Not to mention that we felt it was well worth it.

We did get attached to Trixie right away and I would look at her picture every day. I am sure I would have been sad if we did not get her, but we would have gladly taken another one of the available babies. They all need to go to a forever home and I feel all my doggies have come to us for a reason. They were always meant to be with us and have enriched our lives.

When Jean told us we were approved we were so excited that Trixie was going to be ours. Little did we know that there was more to Trixie’s story? Jean informed us that Animal Planet had been filming Trixie since she was rescued. They had been following her every step of the way until she got to her forever home. Even though the spotlight is not our thing at all, we both felt that the cause was well worth it. The more people who see the truth about puppy mills the better. The cruelty needs to stop.

Finally the day came for us to get our little girl. I can tell you that she far exceeds our expectations. She is not only beautiful, but she is smart and very funny. There is not one day that she does not make us laugh. At first she was a little nervous but she got comfortable at her home very soon. She just loves to play and gives many kisses. I cannot believe what a happy doggie she is and how she is enjoying every second of freedom. When I take her places she wants to make sure she smells everything. It is probably the first time she has seen or smelled most of what is out there. One of her favorite things to do is to let the wind go through her hair and sunbathe. Toby and her just love each other and they play all the time. Trixie even has a way to remind us every day of our doggies that have gone to the rainbow bridge.

It hurts to think how she spent the first three years of their life. How could anyone be so cruel to so many gentle souls???? Thanks to Jean for starting PuppymillRescue. Thanks to all of you who volunteer and work so hard to make a difference. Thanks for opening my eyes and getting my head out of the sand. Thank you for our little girl Trixie. We cannot imagine our lives without her.
