Adopt Me features Sophie

Back Home Next

Sophie is a beautiful 10 1/2 lb approximately 10 year old Maltese sweetheart. She had a rough start after her release having to spend two weeks in an x-pen recuperating from double hernia surgery, but is now loving freedom and enjoying life in her foster home. I think she is a miracle baby because I can't imagine how long she would have lived with hernias that size if not saved by her rescue angel.

Sophie is a very brave little lady, but does have her safe space under her foster parent's bed. At least once a day we have to play ollie-ollie in free and collect all of the clothes and other items that she has taken from the house and hidden there. We noticed that the toy basket was half empty and found all of those under there too, but we let her keep the toys, blankets and beds that she has taken there. We need our towels, clothes and socks so do take them back from her! :) Sophie's foster skin sister unpacked her things when she got to college, and found some of them missing. We found them after she left under the bed! Sophie must have been sneaking in to where we were stacking her things and stealing them one at a time!

While Sophie loves to collect toys I have not seen her play with any yet. Here foster sister Kati has tried to engage her in play and she starts to but is still learning how.

Sophie will take a treat from our hand and loves to eat, and has gone on the potty pad and outside. She will bark at me in the morning until I let the pups outside and is the first one out of the door. Other times in the day I have to coax her outside by standing behind the door. She does love to be in the yard!

I can tell that Sophie is getting ready to trust us, but she still crouches down when she comes to you to be loved. She seems to like us all but does follow foster dad more than the rest of us. She is so funny at times and just runs like a little deer through the house with her tail wagging!

If you are interested in adding a very sweet, beautiful little girl to your family who will give you years and years of love - please email her foster mom at rescuejust1@yahoo.com

Thanks!
Cheryl and Sophie
